Summer mood in Koufonisia

In the past years, I often heard that many of my friends aimed to visit the small island Koufonisi (there are 2, one of which uninhabited), and I decided after all these years to see for myself. It is amazing how such a tiny island can leave such a great impression on you. Of course, Santorini is extraordinary, of course Naxos is one of the best islands I have visited and I can go on for hours…but this tiny gem was something else. I have to warn you though..do not go if you are looking for parties and fancy lifestyle. You choose this island for the isolation, for the calmness, for the ‘pool’ like turquoise water and ‘hard to find’ internet connection. Yes, for some reason, being away from civilization just for a day was the highlight of our holidays. And we promised to ourselves to go there again.

I start with just 4 pictures and will go on posting more! I hope you like the colour of the water, it was really impressing!

Naxos’ Portara in black and white

Pictures like an old movie…as much as I love seeing them in colour, this black and white version gives me so much calmness. I hope you like them!

Visiting an old olive press in Naxos

This post about Naxos is our visit to an old olive press site! One of the days we were there we decided to go for a tour around Naxos, which was totally worth it! Especially if you are a foreigner, I can not recommend highly enough booking one day group tours around the islands; you don’t get stressed by driving in a challenging road network and you can enjoy the sights without being overwhelmed by the number of tourists, language and, not to forget, heat in summer months.

During the tour, we visited numerous sites that will follow as separate posts. If you are interested in going to Naxos, you can always search in the blog for ‘Naxos’ so you see all relevant posts!

Last summer we visited Naxos, Paros, Koufonisia, Antiparos and Athens so a lot of posts will come!

I was so busy trying to focus on the camera (I had just bought it so I was learning), so I can’t remember a lot of what I heard from the tour. But this piece of equipment is rotating in a circle pressing the olives.

Flowers…
